During his time in Navy Richard was assigned to Pearl Harbor Naval Hospital in Hawaii. He worked there as an artist and answered the call to duty when a subsequent attack endangered Pearl Harbor later in the war. Richard is proud of his service and was honored to receive this letter from President Harry S. Truman
